Friday Night Lights passed on this running man.

As Glen Powell recently revealed, he auditioned for multiple characters on the football series, including Tim Riggins, a role that went to Taylor Kitsch.

“Taylor Kitsch obviously smoked that role,” the Texas-born Top Gun: Maverick actor told Jake Shane on the Sept. 24 episode of his Therapuss podcast. “It was like, iconic.”

Glen, 36, later explained that he was a high schooler when he auditioned, as opposed to Taylor, 44, and other cast members.

“Those guys were all like, mid-20s playing high school. They looked the part,” he said, adding, “I was not a cool-looking Tim Rigggins in high school even though I was playing high school football.”

Other Friday Night Lights roles that Glen tried out for?

“I auditioned for two different quarterbacks, like J.D. McCoy and something else,” he said, referring to the part that ultimately went to Peter Pan star Jeremy Sumpter. “Then I was kind of at an age where I was like, ‘OK, I could I could do this.'” And I just crashed both times.”
