Hailey Bieber is taking the high rhode in this conversation.

After all, with the Rhode Beauty founder’s brand in Sephora stores alongside Selena Gomez‘s brand Rare Beauty, she shared why she isn’t interested in swaying buyers one way or the other.

“It’s always annoying being pitted against other people,” Hailey told WSJ. Magazine in an interview published Oct. 14. “I didn’t ask for that. When people want to see you a certain way and they’ve made up a story about you in their minds, it’s not up to you to change that.”

Instead, the 28-year-old—who is married to Justin Bieber, Selena’s ex—is focused on seeing Rhode thrive in the beauty store. 

“I think there is space for everybody,” she emphasized, adding that she’s most competitive with herself. “I don’t feel competitive with people that I’m not inspired by.”

The model—mom to 13-month-old son Jack Blues Bieber with Justin, 31—revealed that the “Baby” singer is among her biggest supporters. As she explained of her products, “I test them on my husband, I test them on my friends. I’m product-obsessed.”
