The Israeli military has confirmed that it carried out a series of large-scale airstrikes targeting military infrastructure across Iran late Sunday night. The operation, described as “wide-scale” by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), marks one of the most significant escalations in the ongoing tensions between the two countries.
According to the IDF, the strikes focused on multiple strategic locations, including:
Weapons production facilities linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), the Quds Force, and the Iranian army.
Military sites in central Iran, believed to house long-range missile and navigation system development programs.
Infrastructure in Tehran, specifically sites associated with Iran’s elite military units.
The IDF stated that the goal of the operation was to dismantle Iran’s capabilities to produce and launch missiles and other advanced weapons that pose a direct threat to Israeli national security.
“Several military production sites were successfully targeted and destroyed,” said the Israeli army in its statement. “This includes locations involved in the development of missile guidance systems and other strategic technologies.”
The strikes come amid heightened regional tensions following mutual accusations of aggression and recent cross-border attacks involving drones and ballistic missiles.
Iran has not yet issued an official response, but state media reported multiple explosions across several provinces overnight. The extent of damage and casualties remains unclear.
This development adds to fears of a broader regional conflict, as both nations continue to exchange threats amid rising international concern.
