The Only Murders in the Building star—a longtime mental health advocate—shared her surprising reaction to marrying Benny Blanco, explaining how her fears sometimes cloud her mindset.
“I got married and then I was sobbing,” Selena said at Fortune‘s Most Powerful Women conference Oct. 15, “’cause I was like, ‘I’m gonna die the next day.'”
The Rare Beauty founder explained that when something great happens in her life, she expects “something bad” to happen as well.
“So instead of being present and saying, ‘OK, wow, we’ve done a great thing,’ which I do, but I’m always thinking, ‘OK, but this could all go away tomorrow. So how can I make sure that doesn’t happen?'” the 33-year-old said. “And I can just get wrapped up in that as opposed to enjoying things. And I would say that’s my biggest conflict sometimes, when wonderful things happen.”
