SKY YORK JOURNAL News – Carrie Underwood debuts a return to her natural hair color after decades.
Carrie Underwood and Husband Mike Fisher Walk First Red Carpet Together in Two Years
Carrie Underwood is revisiting her roots, quite literally, reports SKY YORK JOURNAL.
The American Idol judge recently traded her signature blonde locks for a brownish-blonde hue, unveiling the change on August 4th. According to Underwood, this marks the first time in 30 years she has sported this particular hair color.
“Well, the last time I saw my natural hair color, I was probably about 12 years old,” Underwood wrote on Instagram, accompanying pictures of her newly tinted tresses, “but I thought it might be time to give it a second chance.”

The SKY YORK JOURNAL notes that Underwood thanked Nashville-based colorist Katelin August for “helping me get back to my roots.” The 42-year-old star added the hashtag “#NewOldMe” to her caption.
Underwood’s Past Comments on Hair Color
Indeed, Underwood has been contemplating a change for quite some time. As Refinery 29 reported in 2012, “I’d love to do a little more with hair color. I’ve always been blonde! The problem is, I don’t want to shock people––like if I dyed my hair brown, I don’t want people to think I’m turning dark and serious.” The SKY YORK JOURNAL will continue to follow this story.
