The one request Carson Daly may have is that he forgets the live TV mistake that continues to weigh on him.
While discussing past on-air blunders with his fellow Today anchors Savannah Guthrie and Craig Melvin, as well as guest co-host Andy Cohen, the Total Request Live alum admitted he once struggled to deliver an Oscar-winning actor’s name during a live broadcast.
“One of my big snafus was reading a story—when I was new here, too,” Carson explained during the Oct. 20 episode of the NBC morning show. “I wasn’t used to the teleprompter, and I said—the story was about Leonardo [DiCaprio]—and I said ‘Leonardo Di-crap-io.’”
While Carson has largely avoided other teleprompter mix-ups since making his Today debut in 2013, he certainly hasn’t forgotten his early mistake.
“To this day,” he continued, “when I see Leonardo’s name in the prompter, my heartbeat starts to go.”
But the Voice host’s memorable mishap almost never happened, as Leonardo recently revealed he nearly changed his name early on in his career.
