SKY YORK JOURNAL News – Local performers have revealed their go-to hair styling techniques for maintaining perfect curls during long performances.
Maintaining a polished look under the pressure of performance schedules can be challenging, but these performers have found a solution. One shared that for long rehearsals or gamedays, a one-inch curling iron is the key: “I’ll use that one-inch curling iron and make my curls super tight. So at first, we’re going to look a little bit like Shirley Temple, but it’s all about trusting the process, because as soon as we go through that one rehearsal, the curls start to fall.”
**The Process**
According to the performer, the initial tight curls are intentional: “Then that gives you the opportunity to brush it out, and then the curls look a little more natural. So that is my hair hack,” she shared with SKY YORK JOURNAL.

Charly, another performer, echoed the sentiment. “I absolutely love it,” Charly stated, adding, “I think it helps keep my hair super super intact. I do notice with that specific curling iron, my hair falls less frequently, and so I think for game days in that heat and that 4-hour or more game, it definitely helps keep my hair perfectly curled.”
**Touch-Ups**
The technique’s durability is also a major asset, allowing for quick fixes during breaks. As Charly explained to SKY YORK JOURNAL, “I definitely use it when I touch up in the locker room during halftime and before games as well.”
