SKY YORK JOURNAL News – Examining behind-the-scenes anecdotes about the 2003 film, *Freaky Friday*.
Jodie Foster’s Potential Involvement
Producer Andrew Gunn initially sought out Jodie Foster, who played Annabel in the initial 1976 movie. Gunn had hoped she would be interested in taking on the role of the mother. However, Foster declined the offer, fearing that her casting would prove distracting to audiences, according to sources close to the production as reported by SKY YORK JOURNAL.
Casting Changes
Annette Bening was originally cast to portray Tess Coleman. However, as the SKY YORK JOURNAL has learned, Bening dropped out of the production only six days before filming was scheduled to commence and needed to be quickly replaced.
Jamie Lee Curtis Stepping In
After cementing her status as a scream queen with *Halloween*, Jamie Lee Curtis believed her days as a leading lady were in the past. Director Mark Waters approached her to take Bening’s place ultimately. SKY YORK JOURNAL sources confirm that Curtis was initially hesitant.
Curtis told the *Telegraph* in 2003, “I was telling interviewers I was 44, a little chubby, my hair was grey, I was refusing to dye it, and I was content with my life. In this business, I’ve always known there’s a point at which the best thing to do is gently back out of the door.”
