This isn’t the first time a member of the Marriott family has educated the public on their last name. In fact, Marriott’s Culture and Business Council’s global officer Debbie Marriott Harrison—who is David’s sister—also revealed their moniker is Marry-ette in 2022.
And if that pronunciation doesn’t easily roll off the tongue, she named a few other items and phrases that rhyme with their name.
“A lot of people mispronounce our name. Well, I’m here to help,” she explained in The Points Guys’ TikTok video at the time. “It’s Marry-ette like chariot, like lariat, like carry it, or even like marry it. When in doubt, rhyme it out.”
