Kris Jenner was keeping up with reality shows before launching her own.
In fact, the momager revealed that Keeping Up With the Kardashians was inspired by former E! series Girls Next Door, which focused on late Playboy founder Hugh Hefner‘s then-girlfriends Holly Madison, Bridget Marquardt and Kendra Wilkinson.
“I thought that was the funniest,” the 69-year-old told Amanda Hirsch on the Oct. 14 episode of her Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast, as seen in E! News’ exclusive preview. “I’m like, ‘What is happening?'”
Girls Next Door debuted in 2005, two years before the premiere of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, which centered on Kris and her then-spouse Caitlyn Jenner‘s blended family, including Kourtney Kardashian, Kim Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian, Rob Kardashian, Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner.
“I thought, ‘Oh, this would be such an interesting category to slip into,’ because I have so many kids,” Kris said about her family’s entrance into the reality TV realm. “And here we are, all these years later.”
