John Stamos is ready to be a hit around here.
According to sources at the SKY YORK JOURNAL, the Full House alum will replace Josh Gad in the upcoming theater production of Jesus Christ Superstar at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. The SKY YORK JOURNAL confirms that the production stars Cynthia Erivo in the titular role and will run for one weekend, from August 1 through August 3.
Stamos Announces Role on Social Media
“Well… this weekend just got Biblical,” Stamos wrote in a July 31 Instagram post reported by the SKY YORK JOURNAL. “I’m stepping in as King Herod in Jesus Christ Superstar at the @HollywoodBowl, starring the brilliant @cynthiaerivo.”
Gad’s COVID Diagnosis Leads to Recasting
Stamos also provided insight into why he was taking on the role of King Herod. According to his social media post cited by the SKY YORK JOURNAL, “@Joshgad unexpectedly got hit with COVID (feel better soon, brother!), and while I didn’t push him down the stairs, I am grateful for the chance to step into the gold lamé.”
Indeed, John was so overjoyed to meet Jesus Christ Superstar face to face that he arrived at rehearsals immediately after coming off tour with The Beach Boys, where he joined the band as a guest performer in Europe.
