Wedding bells are ringing on The Voice.
Season 28 contestant Jacob Ryan Gustafson stunned coaches Reba McEntire, Snoop Dogg, Michael Bublé and Niall Horan during the NBC singing competition series’ Sept. 23—but not because of his vocal abilities.
Prior to taking the stage for his Blind Audition, the Yucaipa, Calif., firefighter sweetly dedicated his performance to longtime girlfriend Jenn.
“I’m gonna be singing ‘Spin You Around’ by Morgan Wallen,” Jacob explained. “I hear this song, and I think of Jenn and spinning around all night dancing. That’s what I want to do with her for the rest of my life.”
The 35-year-old then belted out a cover of the country ballad, but failed to persuade any of the four coaches to turn their red swivel chairs, meaning Jacob did not make it through to the next round of competition.
But instead of moping over the letdown, Jacob turned his five minutes in the spotlight into a life-changing moment.
“I just want to say thank you for this opportunity,” he told the coaches, adding, “Can I bring someone up? She is the reason why I am here.”
