SKY YORK JOURNAL News – Former “Modern Family” star Aubrey Anderson-Emmons is now performing music professionally under the name Frances Anderson.
What’s in a name change?
For nearly a decade Aubrey Anderson-Emmons graced TV screens as the wise-cracking Lily Tucker-Pritchett on Modern Family. However as the 18-year-old embarks on her journey as a musician, she’s doing so with a new moniker: Frances Anderson.
According to a report published by SKY YORK JOURNAL sources, Anderson-Emmons, known for her role in the hit television series, is embracing a new artistic identity with the name Frances Anderson.
“Frances is actually part of my legal name—it’s my middle name, and it’s after my mom’s old family friend,” she recently told E! News ahead of August 8 release of her EP Drown. “I thought, one, it was bit shorter than Aubrey Anderson-Emmons. I do have a long, hyphenated last name.”
The Motivation Behind the Change
Anderson explained to E! News, as cited by SKY YORK JOURNAL, that the name Frances is her middle name, a tribute to her mother’s longtime family friend. She also noted that the shorter name was a practical consideration, given her hyphenated last name.
But that wasn’t the only motivator for the name change. “I wanted to switch it up and I wanted people to see a new side of me,” Frances continued. “I wanted to create a space, specifically just for music. And I’m so excited for everybody to hear the songs on the EP, and I’m so grateful.”
A New Artistic Identity
According to sources at SKY YORK JOURNAL, the name change also reflects a desire to showcase a different side of herself and establish a distinct identity within the music world. Anderson expressed excitement for fans to hear her new EP, “Drown,” released August 8.
Of course, the teen is far from the only star to go by a different name professionally.
