Derek Jeter had to take a rain check on this meeting.
After bad weather on Oct. 7 postponed the third Detroit Tigers vs. Seattle Mariners ALDS game by more than two hours, the baseball player-turned-Fox Sports MLB studio analyst was forced to put his dad duties on hold.
“Sorry, it’s a rain delay,” Derek said live on TV, after getting a phone notification. “I had an appointment. A parent-teacher conference that I’m gonna miss.”
These comments marked a rare moment for the retired New York Yankees star, who keeps much of his life with wife Hannah Jeter and kids Bella Raine, 8, Story Grey, 6, and River Rose, 3, and son Kaius Green, 2, off the air.
Though he has given occasional insight into how parenting has changed him.
“A lot of people may have thought I was emotionally stunted when I was playing,” Derek joked to E! News’ Francesca Amiker in Sept. 2023. “That’s not the case, I just hid it well. But I think having kids brings out the softer side of everyone, and I couldn’t be happier.”
