It’s hard out here for Lily Allen when it comes to dating.
The “Smile” singer shed some light into how dating has been going for her since splitting from David Harbour back in February after four years of marriage, admitting that she’s found it to be “much harder” than she expected.
“It’s bitterly disappointing,” she told Perfect Magazine in an interview published Oct. 21. “There’s an element of humiliation and shame around it. The world doesn’t portray women of my age as being desirable. And it just feels like climbing up a mountain.”
While she knows that finding another partner wouldn’t solve everything for her, Lily does think it would help.
“Being in a relationship is not the answer to all of my problems,” she explained. “In fact, it’s probably the opposite. But it feels like the easier option. But also quite hard to achieve in this current climate.”
After the interviewer pointed out that Lily sings about “self-hatred,” “being too old or not good-looking enough” and “being a failure” on her new album West End Girl, she shared that her relationship with David contributed to those feelings.
